Beat the Summer Heat with Whip Hand Cosmetics Lip Creme in Freeze

A while back I reviewed my first product from Whip Hand Cosmetics, a lip creme in color Atlas.  Atlas did a few things that really got me curious to try more lip cremes.  First, it felt ridiculously good on my lips, like a creamy, soft hug.  Second, it stayed where I put it.  No bleeding, feathering..nada.  No liner needed.  Coming from a girl who could line her lips in candle wax and still find lip colors creeping across her face, this was a huge selling point.

I was talking with Riese over at Whip Hand and I asked her which lip creme color she would recommend as I'm indecisive as hell.  She selected Freeze.

It is not hard to see why she loves this color.  Freeze is a pitch perfect coral. Not too pink, not too orange.  Perfect!  This shade makes me think of summer, 1960.  Connie Francis is crisp capris, driving the boys wild.  It will make your lips pop without making them glow.  Pair this with a golden smokey eye and you have the perfect summer look.  Freeze makes me want to shut off my computer and frolic in the ocean.

You may remember from my review of Atlas, one issue I had was the sheerness of the color.  I wanted the buildable, dense coverage touted by the website.  So does Freeze deliver the goods?

Absolutely!  Freeze is everything I loved about Atlas and it gives that dense, creamy opaqueness I was missing.  You can apply Freeze lightly as a stain, or you can build it up to a lustrous, creamy finish. I was nervous that the rich texture would lead to bleeding and feathering but Freeze stayed exactly where I put it.  No unauthorized color migration.

Freeze has excellent wear time.  I get 4-6 hours, in general it stays nice until I eat.  When I remove the excess to reapply, I am left with a hint of color.  This fades down very naturally.

Final Thoughts

Whip Hand achieved something very special with their lip cremes.  They feel amazing on your lips, with the staying power of a stain.  I can't think of another lip product I've tried that's delivered this much.  I'm still not 100% sold on the pan format, although this will be a plus to professionals.

  1. Oh gosh, this is definitely my kind of color... I love these corals that are winking at red. And lip color in pots? It feels so retro, I am a fan! This shade looks absolutely mah-vlous on you, by the way!
