I'm fairly new to the "blush in a box" concept. I only bought my first Benefit box blush last year. I quickly became a fan and have since purchased more. So when I saw this Hard Candy Fox in a Box blush I couldn't resist, I had to see how it compared to my favorite Benefit blushes.
Fox in a Box Blushes come in a hinged box similar to Benefit box blushes. They are slightly smaller and contain a little less product. .20 oz for Hard Candy vs .28oz for Benefit
I love the color scheme and design of these box blushes, very feminine and bold. They have four different blush quads and two different blusher/bronzer duos.
When you open the box there is a cute, yet very scratchy brush attached to the lid by an elastic strap. Much like the Benefit blushes, I just immediately toss the brush into a drawer awaiting fates unknown. Unlike the Benefit blushes, Hard Candy Fox in a Box blushes do not have a mirrored lid.
Sweet and Spicy is a combination of four colors. A bronze, a pink, a watermelon and a peach
On the left you can see a combination of the four colors, followed by bronze, peach, pink and watermelon individually. With a little finesse you could use these separately.
Here is a closeup of the final combined swatch. Each color was soft, but not too powdery and very pigmented. However, I noticed that even when swirled together the bronze came off patchy and could overpower the other colors. I was able to buff the colors together on the cheek with a minimal amount of effort, but you need to be aware of this or you could easily walk out the door with patchy, spotty cheeks. The wear time was good, 6-8 hrs with very little fading, even better when worn over a primer.
Final Thoughts
If the color payoff was more even this would be a slam dunk. As it is, I still think this is a really good buy. At $6.00 vs $28 for a Benefit blush, I think you can forgive a little patchiness. I don't know that I would go out of my way to buy more, but if I were to find myself in a Walmart I would absolutely get a few.
Where to buy : Walmart
Price: $6.00 for .20oz

This is actually the only one I have. I like it a lot and I like the color variety. I also like the outcome of all of them mixed together. I was a fan.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any problems with the bronze color dominating? The color variety is quite good. If I were a bronzer type person, I'd love to try the duos.
DeleteI haven't tried any of Hard Candy's blush boxes, but I did read recently that they're being discontinued. NOOOO... Anyway, if you want more, you might want to research which products are being discontinued :( The good news is that Hard Candy is bringing out a bunch of new products soon!
ReplyDeleteNoooo! Well, looks like I am going out of my way after all.
DeleteI actually love these! For $6 i don't mind having to add more product. I do like the benefit blushes too.
