Geek Chic Cosmetics: Big Damn Heroes

I am still pissed Firefly was canceled, and lets face it some things you just never get over.  And while Joss Whedon is still under appreciated in my mind (recent blockbusters not withstanding) some of that Firefly awesome lives on in the Geek Chic Cosmetics collection Big Damn Heroes.

This 5 shadow collection is based off the single season cult fave Firefly.  I've chosen my 3 favorite colors to review for you today.


Inevitable Betrayal

Final Thoughts

Each of these colors is a solid winner.  My favorite is Ambassador.  The maroonish shade is neither too bright, nor too dark.  It makes a wonderful crease color and looks specially lovely when paired with golds.  Inevitable Betrayal is one of those workhorse neutral shades you just can't go wrong with.  Very Fine Hat is the only shade I was a little shaky with, but this stems from my own challenges with black based colors.  I've seen this this color look like a jeweled golden olive in other swatches, on me the black is very dominant...but I have this problem with almost every black based shadow I own.  All that being said, I still think it's a beautiful color and I love using this on the outer crease to deepen a neutral eye.

  1. I second the being pissed Firefly was cancelled! Whenever any of the actors guest star on Castle I call them by their Firefly character names xD
    My favourite collection colour-wise is probably Strange Aeons (it's the only one I own all the shades from), though when I get around to placing an order for the last few of these that might change. I do adore Geek Chic themes though, HP Lovecraft, Firefly, MLP, Doctor Who and Princess Bride (lovelovelove!). They just need to do a Labyrinth collection now xD
